North Port High School 2020 STRIVE Recipients
Jasper Shell-Brown | Jasper attended three high schools in four years and accumulated numerous discipline referrals along the way. She admitted to having struggled to control her emotions and being respectful to teachers, staff, and other students. By her senior year, Jasper’s social-emotional growth led to significant behavioral improvements. She increased her self-control and was more open to and respectful of others’ opinions. Throughout the transition to a more mature and emotionally healthy student, academics was a priority for Jasper. She maintained extremely good grades, achieving a 4.4 in her senior year.
In addition to working part-time, Jasper tutors in the after-school tutoring program, serves on the advisory board of the library, and is a senior ambassador helping new students acclimate to NPHS. She wants to continue her education and have a career as a geneticist.
