Van Duren Memorial Scholarship

Description:
This scholarship fund is a program of the Florida Elks Youth Camp and the Florida State Elks Association. The fund provides scholarships in amounts up to $5,000 per year to graduating high school/home school seniors who are planning to attend college and to students currently enrolled in an accredited American college, university or community college. To be eligible you must have served as an employee of the Florida Elks Youth Camp Summer Camp program for at least one season prior to submitting an application. If awarded the scholarship, you will only receive that award the fall semester AFTER your second summer of work.

Eligibility:

    1. Be a student in the graduating class of a high school or its related equivalent, or a student currently enrolled in an accredited American college, university, or community college.
    2. Be a resident of the state of Florida.
    3. Have served as an employee of the Florida Elks Youth Camp summer camp program for one season and been hired for a second season. These two seasons do not need to be consecutive, but applicant cannot apply unless they have been hired for a second season.
    4. On a grading scale of 1.0 to 4.0, applicant must have a cumulative grade point average (GPA) of 3.0 or better. If the applicant does not have a 3.0 GPA but feels that they will have prior to the awarding of funds in February, they should still apply in a timely fashion and include a written explanation as to how they plan on achieving the 3.0 GPA.
