Manasota ASALH Scholarship Program

This scholarship program from The Association for the Study of African American Life and History (ASALH) is designed for African American students who are high school seniors in the Manatee and Sarasota community admitted to an accredited college or university.


  • Students must be a graduating African American high school senior.
  • They must possess a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
  • They must have demonstrated leadership abilities through participation in community service, extracurricular or other activities.

Scholarship applicants complete an application and, if chosen to go to the next level, are interviewed by the Manasota ASALH Scholarship Committee. Recipients must provide documentation that indicates they are enrolled in an accredited four year college or university while maintaining good standing in order for the scholarship funds to be released.
