The scholarship is open to Sarasota County Public and Alternative High School seniors who
have a minimum 3.5 grade point average. The student selected will receive $1,500 per year
towards his/her college education for up to four years. Selection criteria includes financial need,
academic record, character, and the ability to overcome challenges.
The $1,500 scholarship is renewable provided the recipient maintains a 3.0 grade point average
at the college level and continues to demonstrate integrity and character in pursuit of a career.
The recipient will be required to submit grade transcripts each year to qualify for the renewal.
In addition to completing the scholarship application, the following items MUST also be submitted:
1. High school transcript
2. ACT, SAT scores results (Must include one of these)
3. Must include One teacher and One community member recommendation.
4. Letter from the student’s parent(s) and/ or guardian explaining any extenuating
circumstances and outlining the reasons the student is qualified to receive this award.
5. A copy of the Student Aid Report (SAR) that is sent to the student following the filing of
the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA)
The application deadline is March 25, 2022. In-person interviews may be scheduled for
finalists. Please make sure all letters of recommendation and all required back up is sent
with the completed application. If anything is missing it will be considered incomplete.

The Lou Komarov Memorial Scholarship is established in memory of a treasured colleague
and friend of Southern Trust Financial who valued education, ethics, character, and the ability to overcome adversity.
