Description:
The Longboat Key Garden Club Scholarships provide financial assistance to qualified students pursuing degrees in the natural or marine sciences at accredited Florida colleges and universities. These awards recognize academic achievement, demonstrated commitment to environmental stewardship, and a strong interest in preserving and enhancing Florida’s natural resources.

 

Students who are pursuing a degree in the natural or marine sciences are encouraged to apply. Fields of study may include, but are not limited to: Botany, Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Ecology, Forestry, and Environmental Science.

Applicant Requirements

  1. Be a U.S. citizen and a Florida resident for at least two years before the academic year of application.
  2. Be currently enrolled at an accredited Florida college or university.
  3. Sophomores and juniors must have completed at least 12 credit hours.
  4. Seniors and graduate students must have been accepted into an accredited graduate program.
  5. Have a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  6. Be available for an interview, if requested.

Application Must Include

  • Two recommendation letters from faculty in the applicant’s field of study.
  • Resume including activities, honors, leadership, work, and community service.
  • Personal statement describing interest in the natural sciences and future goals.
  • Official transcript (need not be stamped).
