The Education Foundation of Sarasota County is seeking high school seniors (Class of 2024) who are ready to ‘Jump Start’ their education beyond high school. This need-based scholarship covers tuition for 30 credit hours at the Florida state public college rate at a Florida Prepaid College Foundation approved institution in Florida, including Florida technical colleges, community colleges and state universities.

Eligibility:

  • High school senior Class of 2024
  • Will graduate from a public or charter high school located in Sarasota County
  • Has good attendance and behavior
  • Plans to enroll full-time at a Florida technical college, state community college or public university
  • Is a Florida resident for at least one year (documentation required)
  • Is a US Citizen or Permanent Resident (documentation required)
  • Has a SSN (documentation required)
  • Has completed the FAFSA (documentation required) *Due to FAFSA delays proof of FAFSA submission and the SAI estimator will be accepted until the final report is available.
  • Is listed as a dependent on parents’ income tax return (documentation required)
  • Provide one of the following to determine financial eligibility – parents’ most recent tax return form 1040 (2022 or 2023), Medicaid, SNAP, TANF, OR HUD documentation (must not exceed the “Very Low Income” HUD Eligibility threshold). Student’s name must be listed on the documentation.
  • Meets financial need as determined by the 2023-24 Child Nutrition Programs Eligibility Guidelines Chart *If parents’ annual income exceeds the annual number listed under the “Reduced Price Meals” column, student is NOT eligible for a Jump Start scholarship. 
  • Completes an online application

*Take Stock in Children (TSIC) participants are not eligible to apply.
