Description:

The Howard Club provides academic scholarships to qualifying students from Southwest Florida approved to attend Howard University. Applicants may be either graduating seniors from local High Schools, college students transferring into Howard University, or college graduates approved to attend a Howard University Graduate program. Scholarship Awards are approved based on a student’s performance on a 100 point application scoring system that targets academic excellence, financial need, community service and leadership. Scholarship awards are generally $5,000 per year up to a maximum of $20,000 over four years. Scholarship Awards may be renewed each year until a student graduates as long as eligibility requirements are maintained.

Requirements:

  • Students must be residents of Southwest Florida (as determined solely by the Howard Club)
  • Be approved to attend Howard University
  • Submit a copy of an official transcript from their graduating high school or college showing they have maintained a 2.75 GPA on an unweighted 4.0 scale.
  • Complete the Howard Club application
  • Complete an essay
  • Submit two letters of recommendation
  • Agree to an interview
