Cook | Hotel and Restaurant
Description: Culinary Arts training takes place on-site at a local country club, hotel or restaurant under a supervising chef. It uses ACF standards to prepare apprentices for a sous chef level position. Fourteen classes held at Suncoast Technical College coincide with the on-site training at work sites.
Duration: Apprenticeships last 2 to 3 years
Compensation: Apprentices are paid by each work site
Entry Requirements: Applicants need 2 to 3 years of work experience and/or completion of a 2-year technical college.
Applicants and Apprentices in Program: Typically, the ideal number of apprentice-students to an instructor is 12. Apprentices can enter the program at any of 4 different times during the calendar year.
Completion Rate: 50-75% of the apprentices complete the program
