The Education Foundation of Sarasota County believes that education transforms lives. We believe that an investment in education is the best investment we can make to keep our community thriving. That is why we support Sarasota County’s One-Cent Sales Tax Referendum, Surtax IV.
This non-partisan referendum has been in place since 1989, and the revenue generated from the one-cent sales tax has been invaluable in funding public and environmental projects—and education. One-quarter of the revenue is used to support Sarasota County Schools. This revenue has enabled the district to renovate schools such as Booker High School, Venice Middle School, and Fruitville Elementary School. It has allowed the district to create more innovative, inviting, and safe places where students and teachers can thrive. Thanks to the surtax, the district can better meet the needs of its diverse students and its teachers.
On November 8, 2022, please vote to renew Sarasota County’s One-Cent Sales Tax Referendum. Help ensure that students from across the county can access new technology, improved infrastructure, and safer environments.
