Carla Weiland is our director of development, donor relations. She has worked in fundraising for over 20 years, including at the State of New Jersey University system and the State of New York University system (SUNY). Carla moved to Port Charlotte from New Jersey full time three years ago. She lives with her husband, Andrew, and dog, Samantha. Carla has three children and five grandchildren, and she loves entertaining, boating, the beach, shelling, traveling, restaurants, reading, and, back where it wasn’t so hot, gardening. She is passionate about the importance of education for all and women’s issues.
Amber Post is our chief development officer. She serves on the senior leadership team as the primary team member responsible for the management, planning, and implementation of all philanthropic strategies. Amber comes to us from the Florida State University Foundation, where she has worked for the past eight years in development roles with increasing responsibilities, most recently serving locally as the senior development officer representing the Sarasota regional campus at the FSU College of Medicine. Amber and her husband, Joe, have a 23-year-old son studying to be an EMT / Paramedic. She loves animals, yoga, travel, and mountain hikes (when she’s not in Florida!).
Jennifer (“Jen”) Champion is our director of development. Jen has over 20 years of fundraising experience, managing teams and working with donors and corporate leaders from throughout southeastern Michigan. A native of Michigan, she moved to Sarasota a year and a half ago to be closer to her mother and to enjoy our beautiful weather. Jen likes learning all about what Sarasota has to offer, spending time outdoors, and being with her miniature cockapoo, Henry. She is also quite fond of the University of Michigan Wolverines football.
Trish McNamee is our grants administrator and is responsible for securing philanthropic revenue with foundations and other grant-making organizations. Trish comes to us from the Community Foundation of Sarasota County, where she managed a grants administration team to administer grant-making from donor-advised and designated funds; database processing for interfund grants, discretionary grants, and scholarship grants awarded; and the gift processing team for Season of Sharing. Trish grew up in New York and has been living in Florida for 13 years. She and her husband, a Drill Sergeant for the US Army Reserves, have three children ages 14, 12, and 4, who keep them quite busy!
