Future firefighter in Sarasota kept focused on priorities

Jose Bravo, 18, was all set to start a program this fall that would move him closer to realizing his dream of becoming a firefighter/emergency medical technician until life intervened, and he abruptly hit pause.

Jose had stayed laser-focused on his career goal throughout his years at Sarasota Polytechnical High School and Suncoast Technical College.

He passed his coursework and was preparing to sit for state exams when his mother, an immigrant, developed physical problems that kept her from doing the only work she could get.

Keeping centered on his goal had brought Jose far in his 18 years. But family ranked as the higher priority. Continue reading.
