How about some of the more notable discoveries such as Sir Alexander Fleming’s discovery of penicillin or even Sir Isaac Newton’s discovery of gravity? Life was just never the same.

Cybersecurity camp for 7-12 grade students

Join us as we host our first AFA CyberPatriot CyberCamp this July 17-21, 2017. AFA CyberCamps program was created to continue to inspire students to pursue STEM related activities outside of the school year. Students with be introduced to the CyberPatriot National Youth Cyber Defense Competition, cybersecurity career opportunities, cyber ethics, online safety, how computers work, and cyber threats throughout the week-long camp. The camp is open to students in grades 7-12 and meets every day from 8am-12pm at Riverview High School at 1 Ram Way.

Sarasota students honored at State Science Fair

Twelve students from Sarasota County (8 high school and 4 middle school) qualified to participate in the 2017 State Science and Engineering Fair (SSEF) of Florida following wins in the 2017 STEM Summit in partnership with Sarasota County Schools. This is our third year sending students to SSEF, and the first year sending middle school students. The results were a true testament to the amazing work STEM work being taught in our schools. Nine students from Sarasota County took home awards at SSEF which was held March 28-30, 2017 at The Lakeland Center in Lakeland, Florida.

Venice High takes home Academic Olympics win

The final match of the Academic Olympics season came to a close with Venice High School overtaking reigning champion Pine View during an intense battle on April 1, 2017. The 36th year of the competition ended with the Venice Indians taking home the “Culture Vulture” trophy with a final score of 228-198 over the Pine View Pythons. The 2017 Academic Olympics Program was sponsored by the Dart Foundation. The Venice Chapter of the American Association of University Women and the Sarasota Branch of the Military Officers Association of America were also supporters and sponsors of the program.

$200,000 raised for teachers thanks to YOU!

Thanks to YOUR support, we met the challenge of raising $150,000 for the Lori White Endowment Fund by March 31, resulting in an additional $50,000 capping grant provided by the Charles & Margery Barancik Foundation.
